While they are slightly more upfront about it now, SEO PowerSuite used to be very coy about the fact that you have to pay an annual fee to keep your software working properly with search engine changes. http://www.link-assistant.com/pr... This somewhat-shady behavior left a bad impression.
Yet their software is some of the best for rank tracking. The website auditor is decent, but not great. Spyglass isn't very useful. LinkAssistant does a few good things, but it also tries to make it easy to perform some SEO tasks that are likely to get you in trouble - large-scale, automated link submissions and reciprocal linking schemes. If you don't know what you are doing this tool could hurt your site.
Also, if you are using SEO PowerSuite you will want to invest in some paid proxy servers. Running the tool without a proxy (easy mistake to make for someone who isn't familiar with proxies) can easily lead to your IP address getting blocked by Google search for spamming searches. I had this problem at my last job - about 90% of the time it was impossible to search Google because we were blocked. This is a bad thing for a supposed SEO agency. :) Never could convince them to use a proxy.
(Most non-SaaS rank trackers have this problem though.)
